Further Vandalism to Eco Loo in Easebourne Park

It’s depressing to report that last night, Friday 21st July, the Eco Loo in the Park was the scene of further vandalism.

Between 7pm and 9.30pm two youths were observed arriving in the Park by bike, one red mountain bike, one black mountain bike, each with black rucksacks. They were seen disappearing around the back of the Eco Loo, where this morning one of the windows was found to have been pushed in and the guttering damaged. They were later observed meeting a small white VW car in the carpark, without their rucksacks, returning to the rear of the Loos and then leaving the park by bike without their rucksacks before returning again, collecting their rucksacks and leaving.
Clear images of all this, including the car were captured by the CCTV and have been submitted to the Police for investigation and potential prosecution.
We have quickly replaced the window so the loo can be opened, as the left hand loo remains closed after the previous damage.
It’s incredibly sad that we have seen a string of vandalism in the Park in recent weeks after so long without this antisocial behaviour. Our CCTV system monitors the Park 24/7 and we will always share evidence of vandalism and suspicious activity with the Police. Antisocial behaviour and vandalism takes up valuable time for the Parish Council and costs money that would be far better spent elsewhere. As well as the cost of repairs, we are now stepping up our contracted security patrols as well as asking the Police to carry out adhoc visits.

Petty crime in Easebourne Park

We’re very sorry to report that there has been a theft from the new Eco Loos in the Park.

After the vandalism to one of the doors last week, which has now been repaired at a cost to the Council, yesterday the hand sanitisers were stolen from both Loos. Whilst stealing hand sanitiser might not seem like a big deal, we have taken the decision to not replace these until such a time as this pointless, petty theft and vandalism comes to an end.

Save the date – Picnic in the Park is BACK!

We’re delighted to announce that Picnic in the Park will be back in 2023, this time on Bank Holiday Monday 28th August!

From 12 until 4pm, there will be live music in The Roundhouse by local duo Chloe & Tom and also we welcome back the B3’s who played for us a few years ago.

We will have Laura and her horsebox from Midhurst based Pinders Patisserie with barista drinks and her homemade bakes, plus De Luca Ice-cream, free soft drinks for kids and more to be announced!

So save the date, pack a picnic and come join us for a free afternoon of fun!

Vandalism to Eco Loo in Easebourne Park

After the recent vandalism to The Roundhouse in the Park, we’re sorry to report that yesterday there was an incident of vandalism to our new Eco Loos.

At around 4pm yesterday, Friday 14th July a group of 5 youths were caught on CCTV causing serious damaged to one of the toilet doors. Some of them were seen entering the loo and the others attempted to stop them from coming out. The resulting pushing and pulling on the door has buckled the hinges and damaged the frame. As a result the door cannot be closed. It is therefore now out of order until a repair can be made, so as we approach the summer holidays we are down to only 1 available loo.
A Police report has been submitted and the CCTV that captured the 5 youths causing the damage will be shared when requested.

Works in the Park today

Please be advised that some minor works are taking place in Easebourne Park today including the repair of the vandalism in the Roundhouse and some minor fixes in the Loos. Please bear with us and the team on site if they are working on something you were hoping to use during your visit.

Vandalism in Easebourne Park

We are extremely sad to see that the Roundhouse has suffered a fresh round of vandalism in the last few weeks, the most recent being yesterday. Each time the damage has occurred to the inside of the roof structure, by the use of a ball, stick or bat being hit hard again the wooden planks to dislodge and damage them. This is a costly and tricky thing to repair, funds that ultimately could be far better used elsewhere.
The latest incident was yesterday, Wednesday 5th July at approximately 17.50 when 3 young males were caught by the CCTV cycling inside the Roundhouse and then aggressively kicking a ball at the roof, resulting in the damage shown on the picture above.
They were also then recorded acting very suspiciously in and around the new Eco Toilets, although no damage has been discovered.
This incident has been reported to the Police and we will supply the CCTV footage as evidence.

It’s been a long time since we’ve seen this sort of behaviour in the Park and we’re very much hoping this is an isolated incident, but we will progress this and any subsequent incidents with the authorities and we continue to review CCTV images on a daily basis.

Park equipment replacements

You may have noticed that some work was taking place in the Park today, replacing the toddler swings, replacing the trampolines and some of the safety matting on other equipment. Thank you for your patience if something has not been available during your visit. There are a few more pieces of work to complete but things should all be fully operational very soon!

Coffee in the Park

Sadly it looks like Tom and The Goatbox will not be joining us in the Park over the summer. Although feedback to him and us was fantastic and people seemed to love him being there, there just wasn’t a sufficient level of business to make it viable for him to continue.

We’re hoping to convince him to come back for specific weekends, maybe Bank Holidays, but we’re also looking at other options.
