North Mill Bridge update – 20/1/25

Throughout the day the Parish Council have been in touch with key personnel within District and County Councils, to ensure we are kept up to date with discussions taking place and plans being formulated following the serious damage to North Mill Bridge in the early hours of Sunday.

We have also written to the leaders of WSCC, CDC, relevant Cabinet Members, Councillors and our MP Andrew Griffith, expressing our concern over the impact any length of closure or restricted access will have on our Parishioners and businesses in Midhurst, requesting that the matter is treated as a top priority.

As you may know, 4 way lights are now operational with a temporary concrete barrier in place, to enable a single lane to re-open.

We understand that it will close again later this evening for just a couple of hours to carry out some additional safety works.

Structural engineers and the WSCC Highways engineers are now assessing the required actions to enable a permanent solution and as soon as we learn more about what that will look like and the next steps, we will post further updates. We will remain in daily communication with the relevant teams involved.

If you have any questions you would like us to raise on your behalf please email parishclerk@easebourne.org

Green Volunteers do it again…

Did you spot the Midhurst Green Volunteers this weekend?

Even if you didn’t see them in action, if you walk along High Path you can’t fail to notice what a difference a day makes! The Green Volunteers did an amazing job cutting back over a tonne of green waste all along High Path, from Dodsley Grove to the turning into Riverbank Surgery.

All this with only a handful of volunteers and it took them over 4 hours start to finish.

The team are back in Easebourne for the next 2 Saturdays, the 17th meeting at the corner of Wheelbarrow Castle and Dodsley Lane, and on the 24th meeting at the bottom of Hollist Lane to tackle the upper section of High Path. We could really do with some extra hands so if you can spare an hour or two on a Saturday morning please go along with a pair of gloves at the ready! They start from around 8am but if you’re not an early bird don’t worry, you can still join in a little later!

The full MGV schedule can be found here: Programme 2024 – Midhurst Green Volunteers

Oh what a Fete that was!

What an amazing day we had in Easebourne Park last weekend for the combined PTA and Parish Council Fete in the Park! After a slightly damp start the sun shone, the people came out and much fun was had!

Live music from the B3’s and local super talented Ellie Baker, lots of raffles, tombola’s, BBQ, bar, Pimms, cakes and ice-cream. Children could go for a donkey ride, a go-cart race or a scooter experience! Fun races, a dog show and dance classes all took place in the Events corner.

A big BIG thank you to the PTA for all their hard work in pulling together the packed day, including the team of volunteers who showed up at 7.30am and stayed all day, the FrEP teams who set up, cleared up and litter picked and to everyone of course who visited and helped raise a huge amount of extra money for the School.

Same time next year we hope!!

Friends of Easebourne Parish hard at work!

One of the warmest days of the year didn’t stop the Friends of Easebourne Parish (FrEP) volunteers from doing a mass strim of areas in Easebourne Park. They were rewarded with a very welcome coffee and cake and have left the Park looking rather splendid!

If you’d like to get involved in future FrEP volunteering activities in the Park and around the village, please email frepsec@btinternet.com

Tiered Seating in the Park complete

As many may already have seen, the construction of tiered seating facing The Roundhouse in Easebourne Park has now been completed and is available for use!

We hope you like the end result – offering a large amount of extra seating within the Park and commanding a great view too! It will be a great addition for the Fete in the Park on the 7th  July where we have live music in The Roundhouse and for any future performances.

If you have any suggestions for future activities in The Roundhouse please get in touch with Parishclerk@easebourne.org

Big thank you to local company ACS Limited for completing the project and doing such a fantastic job!

Tiered seating work – an update

UPDATE 17th May – work continues on the tiered seating and we apologise that it’s taking a little longer than expected, not helped by some poor weather. But things are progressing well and we expect it to be completed by the end of Wednesday 22nd May. The area will remain cordoned off for a week or so afterwards to allow the turf time to settle.
We’re thrilled to confirm that work to create the tiered seating facing The Roundhouse has begun today and is expected to take around 1 week. The area will be fenced off during the work and we apologise for any inconvenience if you are intending to visit the Park during this time.
A local groundworks company will construct 4 tiers either side of a new central set of steps, cut out of the bank and supported by oak sleepers. A low fence will surround the top and outer sides of the tiers.
This project has been a Parish Council plan for a while and now that more and more people use the Park, and following the success of recent events in The Roundhouse, we feel that now is the time to implement the plan.
The cost of this project will be entirely met by recent grant bids won by the Council.

New tiered seating for Easebourne Park

The Parish Council are very excited to announce that work will begin at the end of April to create natural tiered seating within the grass bank facing The Roundhouse in Easebourne Park.
