Due to the sad news of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and ten days of mourning, it is necessary to cancel all Parish Council events. All Parish Council meetings are permitted to continue and therefore the Full Council Meeting on 14th September 2022 will take place.
The Midhurst Green Volunteer team are back in the village for the next TWO Saturdays, the 6th and the 13th August, working their way along the length of Wheelbarrow Castle, trimming verges, cutting back the undergrowth, edging, sweeping and tidying!
They meet from 8am and the tasks are usually finished by 10am. Everything is provided, you just need to bring yourself and if you have them a pair of gloves!
Today they were working their magic at St Ann’s Hill – a lot was achieved with only a handful of helpers. As well as strimming, mowing, raking and sweeping, today saw a very large bag full of rubbish including a lot of empty bottles and even a laptop battery collected from just around the Hill 🙁

The work is now underway on the War Memorial. The contractors are using conservation techniques and approved methods, so the Memorial will not appear as ‘brand new’, but will be clean and water tight again. The contractors will return in a week or so, and are currently working on matching the colour of mortar they will use with the colour of the stone.
Metis Homes have now submitted updated plans for application SDNP/21/04041/FUL, the old Easebourne Primary School, Easebourne Street.
The Parish Council’s Planning Committee will meet on Wednesday 1st June at 7.30pm 2022 to discuss this application at Easebourne CE Primary School on Wheelbarrow Castle, Easebourne.
The Parish Council is a ‘Statutory Consultee’, which means that its comments are sought for all applications within its geographical area, along with other organisations such as the Highways Authority, West Sussex County Council or the Environment Agency or Natural England or utilities providers etc. Members of the public are also welcome to submit comments. All comments are published on the South Downs National Park website.
If you have any comments you wish to make to the Parish Council, regarding this application you may do so by emailing the Clerk – parishclerk@easebourne.org or writing to the Clerk – Parish Clerk, 1 Pennicott Road, Bersted, West Sussex, PO21 5AY. The Parish Council has secured permission to submit comments following the meeting.
As explained above you may also submit your comments directly to South Downs National Park Authority by 31st May 2022, via their website or by writing to them at their address in North Street, Midhurst, West Sussex, GU29 9DH. The Planning Committee of the National Park, has responsibility for determining the outcome of the application.

It’s definitely pothole season at the moment but did you know it’s really easy to report a pothole or many other highways related problems to West Sussex County Council including overgrown verges, signage issues or general winter maintenance problems?
Simply visit https://love.westsussex.gov.uk/reports/add and complete the details. You can also use this to see if a problem that you spot has already been reported.
Please don’t wait for someone else to report a pothole or a problem you think needs attending too.
As announced at the Annual Village Meeting on the 24thMay, 2018 the Parish Council is proposing to create a Parish Design Statement. This is a document that would be adopted by the South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) as a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD). It would aim to influence future development within the Parish so that it is in harmony with its setting and local character.
A critical requirement of a Parish Design Statement is that it is created by a team of people with various interests and experiences, from across the Parish and not just by the Parish Council. In fact for it to be officially adopted as an SPD it must have more residents than councillors involved in its creation.

If you are interested in being part of the Parish Design Statement Team then please get in touch. We would be keen to talk to people with experience in planning and architecture, but also people who know the landscapes and history of the Parish. Perhaps most importantly we would like to hear from people who want to take an active role in shaping the future of Easebourne Parish.
What might the project involve?
There is a lot of information to share, but to give a flavour for what is involved, the project will include matters such as:
From building design to green spaces, from views within the Parish to street signage, from types of hedges to building materials and everything in between.
We are not the first Parish to do this, we can learn a lot from those who have already been through the process.
