Changes when you visit Midhurst Recycling Centre

From today, 12th February 2024 everyone will be required to book a slot in order to enter the Recycling Centre in Midhurst. This is a system currently used in other centres around West Sussex and from the this date will be rolled to all Centres in the County.

The following points have been taken from the WSCC website:

Booking an appointment

  • Appointments are available at least 14 days in advance.
  • Same day appointments are available at all sites in the booking scheme.
  • There are a limited number of appointments per day, booked on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
  • Demand for appointments is likely to be high over certain periods so please cancel unrequired appointments to free up space for other visitors.
  • You need to provide the registration number of the vehicle you will be attending the centre in. If you are hiring a vehicle and this is unknown, you will be asked to show the hire paperwork at the centre.
  • You cannot change the registration number, so ensure this is entered correctly. If you need to change it, you will have to cancel and rebook the appointment.
  • You need to provide your email address so we can send you confirmation of your booking.
  • You need to have checked the vehicle restrictions at your chosen site.

What to do when you arrive

  • Please be patient if there is a queue.
  • Follow instructions from staff to ensure safe use of the centre.

Entry to the centre

You do not need to be at the centre at the exact start time of your appointment – you can arrive at any time within your allotted slot.

Appointments are 15 minutes long for Bognor Regis, Midhurst and Shoreham-By-Sea, or 30 minutes at all other centres. See your confirmation email for more information.

There may be circumstances where refusal of entry to a centre will occur. Staff will turn you away if you:

  • do not have a booking – staff check your vehicle registration number to verify that you have an appointment
  • do not have proof of address when you attend
  • are too early for your appointment – staff may ask you to re-join the queue or return at your appointment time
  • are late for your appointment
  • do not have confirmation of the booking reference number (for on-the-day bookings only), either displayed on a smartphone, a printed copy or, for appointments made by phone, written
  • are abusive, as antisocial behaviour is not tolerated.

Brand new Defibrillator outside the Village Shop

We’re delighted to say that there is now another Defibrillator installed in the village, the 4th lifesaving piece of equipment that we have throughout our community.

This one was made possible by a generous donation from a resident and Parish Councillor, David Pack, in memory of his mother Elsie, who died last year aged 97 having lived in the village for 73 years.

St Mary’s Church and the Parish Council also contributed to the overall cost and Cowdray Estate generously donated the installation.

New Year, New Challenge?

Are you looking for a new challenge for the New Year?

If you’ve lived in our Parish for more than 12 months, have a keen interest in what happens within our community, have some spare time and want to get involved, then we could be looking for you!

The Parish Council currently have 3 vacancies for volunteer Councillors. As a Council we are responsible for a number of things within the Parish, including the development and maintenance of Easebourne Park. We are consulted on all planning applications within the village and manage the Parish precept, collected as part of your Council Tax.

We meet as a full council every other month, with other Committees such as Finance and Planning meeting monthly. We are a diverse group of individuals who all care about what happens in the Parish and what we can do to enhance it. Rest assured, it’s not at all like a meeting on The Vicar of Dibley!

Picnic in the Park THIS BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY!

It’s almost that time of year again, our FREE annual Picnic in the Park is back, this coming Bank Holiday Monday!

From 12 until 4pm, there will be live music in The Roundhouse by local duo Chloe & Tom and also we welcome back the B3’s who played for us a few years ago.

We will have Laura and her horsebox from Midhurst based Pinders Patisserie with barista drinks and her homemade bakes, plus De Luca Ice-cream and FREE soft drinks for kids.

The forecast looks good, so pack a picnic and come join us for a FREE afternoon of fun!

Permanent toilets for Easebourne Park

Following on from the very successful trial of a temporary toilet placed in Easebourne Park over the summer school holidays last year, the Parish Council have now confirmed a contract with NatSol, an established and respected national eco-loo company, for the construction and installation of two permanent off-grid eco toilets.
These two toilets will be serviced daily by Wettons personnel and will be open during the hours of daylight and during the months when the Park is most used. They will be constructed of sustainable wood with a reinforced lining and with wooden shingle tile roofs. The wood for the roofs has been kindly donated by Cowdray Estate. The project to supply and build them has been entirely funded by local authority grants, applied for and won by the Parish Council, plus private donations and the National Lottery.
The installation by local company Artizans of Wood, constructors of the Park’s Roundhouse, will commence immediately after the school Easter holidays. However, to ensure that toilet facilities are available to cover the Easter break, a temporary toilet will be installed until the permanent toilets are commissioned.  This loo will also be serviced daily.

Become the Editor of your Community Magazine!

United Easebourne Magazine are looking for a new Editor to take over the role of pulling together this community focussed magazine from July 2023 onwards.

Tina and Gavin, the current editors have been doing the role as volunteers for the last 7 years but feel it’s time for someone else to take on the challenge! It’s a very rewarding role, sharing news and stories about what’s happening in our community, its people and its businesses.

Tina tells us it takes around 3 days in a month, split over the month of course and is all done from home. It doesn’t have to be done by one person, so maybe it’s something you think you could share with someone? If being an editor or roving reporter is something you’ve always fancied having a go at then maybe this is your opportunity!

Thank You Friends of Easebourne Parish

Friends of Easebourne Parish have been very busy planting 11 Jubilee trees in Carbon Corner in Eastbourne Park. The trees form part of the community orchard and include varieties of apples, a quince, two pears and a cherry.

Thank you Sara Davies, Phil Stringer, Frank Davies, Ian Milne (who took the picture!) and Jon Clarke.

The group will shortly be planting daffodils and crocus in the Park all ready for Spring 2023.
