Changes to Waste and Recycling Collections during the Christmas Period

As always, there will be changes to your collections over the Christmas period, please refer to the table for more details.

Other changes to collection services include the Garden Recycling Service which will stop on Friday 19 December, starting again on Monday 5 January 2026.

There will also be some slight changes to the clinical waste collections and all affected residents will be contacted directly.

Residents are also being reminded that many festive items can be recycled including foil food trays, drinks bottles, wrapping paper and much more. People can use our app to easily check what materials can and cannot be recycled, during the busy Christmas period.

Any extra waste will be picked up by collection crews on the first collection after Christmas. If residents have any extra recycling, they need to ensure that it is kept dry in a loosely tied black sack and placed next to their recycling bin on collection day.

Residents are also asked to remember to flatten and fold down excess cardboard or cut it down to a manageable size for a single crew member to handle. Residents should ensure that the bin lid can close easily. Recycling needs to be clean, dry, and loose, so it is important to keep the lid closed to stop rain getting in. All polystyrene packaging, foam and plastic wrapping and film should be removed and placed in the waste bin as this cannot be recycled.

For more information, please see the council’s recycling and waste web pages: www.chichester.gov.uk/wasteandrecycling

National Trust Proposal for a Perimeter Fence around Woolbeding Common

Our neighbouring Parish Council has asked us to share the following information with you, regarding Woolbeding and Pound Commons –

Woolbeding and Pound Commons comprise 425 acres of open access land owned and managed by the National Trust for the benefit of all. It is a valuable local amenity, so hopefully you are already aware from the National Trust’s public meetings of their plans to install a perimeter stock fence around both Commons – see below for the latest version of the proposal and attached document on the style of fences & gates etc.   This forms part of their long-term management plan to improve the common through more extensive use of free grazing, i.e. not limited by the current use of electric fencing.  For more details, please see https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/sussex/woolbeding-countryside/woolbeding-reimagined-conservation-project, or contact the project lead Becky.Hiorns@nationaltrust.org.uk

Given the importance of the common to the Parish, the purpose of this request is to hear your views so that the Parish Council can submit a considered response when the National Trust (NT) submit their formal plans to the Secretary of State, expected to be in Q1 2026.  The Parish Council will collate your views to form part of a public meeting to discuss this topic on Monday 26th January, details to follow.

Please send your comments on the proposal, both for and against, to the clerk at clerk@woolbedingwithredford-pc.co.uk by 20th December. Please say if you wish your response to be anonymous.

Strong community support powers successful defibrillator training event!

Round up from Councillor Dan Kilty –

Around 30 Easebourne residents gathered on Saturday morning for an engaging and practical defibrillator and resuscitation training session.

Led by local paramedic Jamie Lovell, the workshop guided attendees through a real-life emergency scenario before giving everyone the chance to practise essential CPR skills on Resusci-Annie manikins to the beat of “Stayin’ Alive”, helping participants keep the correct rhythm while following the calm, clear prompts of the training defibrillators.

It was hands-on, energetic, and at times physically demanding — with a few people likely feeling it in their shoulders the next day — but the session offered an invaluable opportunity to understand what can happen in an emergency and to build confidence should the need to act ever arise.
