Each research degree lists the English language requirements you will need to apply. International students must have an internationally recognised English language qualification. We are aware that many schools no longer offer AS level qualifications and therefore do not formally use AS level results in admission decisions. If applicants have completed AS levels, we expect them to record UCAS application results, but we will not specifically require students to have completed AS levels to access our programs. Students applying for MBChB or BDS (Clinical Medicine or Dentistry) undergraduate programs are generally asked to provide proof of an international qualification in English (IELTS or TOEFL iBT), unless they are nationals or have been trained in one of the most English-speaking countries from Year 10 onwards. The University recognises the value of the Core Maths qualification to support the development of mathematics skills. Although the University will not include basic mathematics in our admission requirements, we welcome the additional skills it will provide to students. We do not accept basic mathematics instead of A/A level mathematics or equivalent qualifications when mathematics is a requirement of the subject. It is important for us to be able to establish that candidates have obtained the results they need to meet the conditions of an offer we submit. However, we request information from UCAS on the unit marks received by candidates offering A levels and may use this information during the confirmation period to distinguish candidates who have narrowly missed the conditions of their offer.
