ProBonoOregon – A new way to volunteer! ProBonoOregon displays the pro bono options recommended by Legal Aid on a user-friendly website. No password or pre-registration is required to use the website! Simply click on the “Interested” link in all cases or projects described on the site and Legal Aid will respond within two working days. ProBonoOregon allows pro bono lawyers to research, share and offer help with pro bono cases and projects available throughout the state. Cases and projects can also be searched based on geography, topic, or other key factors. Click here to be part of access to justice a reality for low-income Oregonians! We envision more money being spent on mission-driven activities by nonprofits operating in Colorado because they have appropriate governance and legal structures. ProBonoOregon Listserv: If you don`t see a case or project that interests you on ProBonoOregon`s websites, legal consulting firms across the state post pro bonooregon cases on the ProBonoOregon mailing list every week. A lawyer interested in accepting a pro bono opportunity will contact the registration office for full information about the case. Statewide Tax Clinic: The Statewide Low Income Taxpayer Clinic provides advice and representation to low-income clients who have a tax dispute with the IRS and related cases with the Oregon Department of Revenue. The cases cover a range of state and federal income tax issues. Volunteer opportunities are also available to university graduates and new members of the Bar Association. Project NAPOLS: The 2018 Barriers to Justice found that Native Americans were 1.9 times more likely to face older law or a disability-related issue, such as homelessness. In 14 of the 17 categories studied, Native Americans are more likely to have problems than non-Native Americans. Native American Program Legal Aid Services (NAPOLS) represents national clients in tribal, state, and federal courts, as well as in administrative proceedings on matters specific to a person`s status. Pro bono attorneys assist local clients across the state with a variety of issues, including consumer law and fair debt collection issues, family law, landlords/tenants, utilities, elderly law, and estate planning for clients with assets that affect federal or tribal jurisdiction.
