In-depth study of the theory and application of theories and processes of managing interpersonal conflicts between and between individuals, students, organizations and groups of similar status in a variety of state, national and international environments. 3 sh. Critical study of the procedural and substantive basis for workplace dispute resolution. Investigate procedures such as negotiations, mediation, arbitration, fact-finding and collective bargaining, which are the core of dispute resolution in the private and public sectors. This course examines the interrelationships between legal, political, and societal factors in important U.S. Immigration and Citizenship Act bills with respect to government institutions and affected populations. The course examines restrictive immigration law and policy since the founding of our nation, including nineteenth-century exclusion laws, twentieth-century quota systems, and important legislative acts of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. 3 sh. Familiarize students with the procedural and substantive principles of jurisprudence as developed in U.S. law. The course will record the development of the fundamental legal and philosophical principles of legal theory through its cultural and constitutional roots in the early 21st century. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of legal realism and feminist jurisprudence. 3 sh. Students in the Legal Studies specialization must also meet the requirements of the college of arts and sciences associated course. This is 18 hours of high school classes (2000 and above) in law-related areas (e.g. law and society, criminology, psychology and law, philosophy of law, business law, etc.) selected in consultation with a consultant.
