The Met Office weather forecast for next week indicates that there is a high probability of snow starting Monday evening and overnight. It is too early to accurately predict where the snow will be heaviest and how much accumulation there will be.
Day time and overnight temperature are likely to remain very cold for the few days afterwards so any snow that does accumulate is likely to remain.
Precautionary Salting operations will continue through-out the period and snow ploughs will be fitted when required to ensure main roads are kept open.
We are therefore advising Town and Parish Councils to be prepared to enact their Winter Management Plans if /when we issue an instruction to do so. We will continue to monitor the Met Office advice over the weekend and will issue a further update on Monday 26th Feb. If the situation changes significantly over the weekend we advise Town and Parish Councils to monitor the highways Twitter account for updates.
